Master the Helium 10 Tools and Get Certified Through Our Academy!

Helium 10 began rolling out its training Academy courses in late summer 2020. The company was growing quickly, with new employees joining the team every week. We needed a way to help them learn the software quickly, and well enough, to be an asset to our users.

At the same time, the suite of tools was expanding and evolving, becoming more sophisticated. With so many new employees, and so many software tools to learn, it made sense to organize our support documents and video resources to help new employees onboard more independently, and more easily.

As the Academy foundations were laid, and the course outlines created, it dawned on us that many Helium 10 users might also like to have access to a more structured program for mastering the tools. After all, if our new employees felt overwhelmed by so much to learn, it made sense that new users would have the same reactions.

What is the Academy?

The Helium 10 Academy is an online school filled with courses and resources to help users learn and master the Helium 10 software tools. Enrollment is fast and completely free.

What are the Courses Like?

The courses are bundled around related tools, depending on their purposes. Current courses cover:

• Product Research
• Keyword Research
• Listing Optimization
• Marketing
• Business Operations
• Business Analytics.

Each section of each course centers on one tool, opening with an overview video. Additional videos explore each tool’s features in more concentrated depth, before moving on to the next tool.

For example, the Product Research course starts with lessons about the Helium 10 Chrome Extension, then dives into each component of the software, Xray, ASIN Grabber, Inventory Levels, Profitability Calculator and Review Insights. Then the course moves into sections on the other product research tools, Black Box and Trendster. The structure of the courses and their lessons are designed to help users not only master individual tools, but to also see how they complement each other and work jointly for sellers tackling slightly different tasks.

Learning, Made Easier

Our PRO Training videos form the backbone of all the courses, showcasing our Helium 10 experts’ knowledge about the tools. We’ve shortened and focused the content of the videos to help chunk the information for easier learning.

Only have 15 minutes? Go through the Frankenstein course. Have an hour and a half? Study Cerebro.

Bradley Sutton, Director of Training at Helium 10, appears in many of the videos, sharing his extensive knowledge and personal experience about using the tools. Other Helium 10 experts appear in training videos relevant to their backgrounds. Vince Montero, ADS architect and product manager, a PPC expert, takes users through the ADS software. Barcus Patty, product manager for Portals and Follow-Up, and who is also an Amazon seller, guides users through the two key brand-building and customer retention tools. Finally, Listing Optimization expert and Helium 10 evangelist, Karyn Thomas, helps set up the key purposes and connections between the individual tools.

The PRO Training videos are accompanied by short questionnaires and quizzes, key terms, tutorials, exercises, and instructive narratives about sellers using the tools to build and manage their Amazon businesses.

As Helium 10 grows, so too will the Academy.

An Evolving Industry Demands an Evolving Education

The Academy functions like a dynamic, growing document, meaning that, like our tools, it is constantly expanding, evolving and improving. New material is continuously being added, and as our software adapts to Amazon’s changes, so will the content of the Academy. When new versions of our software are released, new videos and updated content will appear on the Academy soon after. When new tools are released, you’ll be able to find the new training courses appearing inside the online school as quickly as they can be created.

While the courses are organized in a logical and linear structure, modeling the journey of a new seller, and the content progresses from basic to advanced in each set of lessons, the access to that content has been left open so that users can complete individual lessons at their own pace, and in their own preferred order. Need to learn the listing tools this morning, so you can write up a new listing this afternoon? Jump straight into that course. Already know Frankenstein? Skip ahead to Scribbles. While the school is laid out in a linear fashion, you can take your own route through it, as quickly or as slowly as you want.

How Does the Certification Exam Course Differ from the Main Software Courses?

The Helium 10 Certification Exam is an opportunity to demonstrate professional-level competence of the Helium 10 software. Whether you’re a long-standing seller or consultant who has been using the tools for a long time, or you’ve just completed the Academy courses and want to showcase your new mastery of the software, Helium 10 wanted to give you a way to demonstrate your professional expertise.

The exam course lets you test your certification readiness with a short 20-question practice quiz. Then, when you pass that, you’ll have a good sense about what kind of questions may appear on the exam itself and how you might perform. If you feel that you need to brush up on or review some of the tools, you can easily revisit any of the courses in the Academy.

The certification process has a one time $77 dollar enrollment fee, which covers the cost of managing, monitoring and updating the exam, and providing the certification link and its renewal. First time certification also comes with a SWAG box, so if you take and pass the exam, look for that exclusive gift to come in the mail.

Then, every year, you’ll get a reminder email that it’s time to update your certification. You’ll be able to surf through the courses to see any new additions or updates, review new content, and complete the new exam.
