Whether you are new to our community or a true Helium 10 OG, you are more than just another “user,” you are part of the Helium 10 family. Over the last few years, we’ve had the opportunity to grow leaps and bounds. We’ve also had the honor of hosting a platform that helps e-commerce sellers (of every skill level) get that much closer to owning their dream business.
Not only do we realize you are not just another “user,” but your Helium 10 experience is more than just an “account.” This is your business – the place to monitor all of your most important metrics and your control center where you make important decisions that directly affect your bottom line.
In a lot of ways, it’s your livelihood!
So, as our family continues to grow, we want to introduce some exciting new ways to help protect your account. These upgrades will both provide new layers of security for your Helium 10 account as well as help us catch any suspicious activity (such as counterfeit login attempts).
The first step we’ll be taking is the introduction of two-factor authentication.
Two-Factor Authentication – How Will it Work?
Chances are, you’ve used two-factor authentication before. It describes the process of adding one additional step (such as a text or email confirmation code) at login to verify your identity.
Effective immediately, we are making two-factor authentication available as a profile feature for every Helium 10 user (yes, including free user accounts!) Authentication can be performed via text, email, or any authentication app. To set up authentication, visit the “Settings” page in your profile (via the drop-down menu) and follow the prompts. simply visit the landing page, click the link, and scan the code on the page.
While you are not required to enable two-factor authentication for your day-to-day logins, Helium 10 will automatically require two-factor authentication in the event of a suspicious login attempt.
What Does This Mean for You?
Ultimately, a more secure account! Think of it as putting all your sensitive financial information in a safe within a safe.
As long as you have the most up-to-date version of Helium 10 installed, we will email you regarding any suspicious login attempt and ask you to verify your identity via one-time code (or take additional steps to secure your account).
What Constitutes a “Suspicious Login” Attempt?
Automatic two-factor authentication will automatically ping you only if both of the following conditions are met:
- You have a token or credit card connected to your account
- We detect your IP address showing up in a different country than it was last detected
For example, if you are based in the United States, but travel to Germany and try to login to your account, we will automatically request email verification, regardless if you have two-factor authentication set up already.
At Helium 10, we’re in the business of making your business secure and easy to access, in that order. Elective two-factor authentication for all users and automatic two-factor authentication for suspicious account activity allows us to focus on your privacy while you focus on your profit.
With so much sensitive information tied so closely to your business, our goal is to keep your account like a James Bond film: for your eyes only.
